Review of Vannini Osvaldo Extra Virgin Olive Oil (500 ml)

This oil is from a small family owned business. Cold pressed in order to keep the oil from breaking down in the manufacturing process. Only the best oils are packages in dark bottles to prevent damage from sunlight. This olive oil is unlike any other due to the location near Lake Como and the olive trees that produce the fruit are hundreds of years old. The creamy taste and flavor is perfect for Pesto. The price is the same as when I purchased from Mr Vannini himself in Bellagio. If you can't go see Lake Como, then get a bottle of this oil and use it for a bread dip while watching a Month by the Lake.

Product Description
Moving ever closer to our goal of carrying an olive oil from every region of Italy, this is our only oil from Lombardia -- an area not typically associated with olive oil production. This terrific unfiltered extra virgin oil is made using olives that populate the area around Lake Como (yes, there are olives trees there). The olives are hand-picked, stone ground and cold pressed. These are the northernmost olives grown and pressed in Italy.

This oil has an intensely grassy aroma and a bright yellow color; it is mild and full with a lingering peppery bite that creeps up at the back of the throat. Excellent drizzled over mixed greens, soups and grilled fish.
