Review of Matiz Andaluz Torta de Aceite Sugared

First let me say that as a general rule, I HATE anything flavored with aniseed. But these little treats have caused me to change my tune. They're just delicious; I can sit down and eat a package at a time, they're THAT GOOD.These are modest looking little things, sometimes a little burnt around the edges, no two the same exact shape, but for some reason when you put them in your mouth, the combined richness of the frying oil, the density of the aniseed and the sweetness of the sugar really transports you on a culinary level.

These can be served in a variety of ways.I actually like to eat them with jammy red wines, or syrupy whites, but they're just as good with tea (particularly Lapsang Souchong).A dessert made by layering vanilla custard between a small stack of the Matiz Tortas also makes an elegant and unique presentation.Purchase and enjoy, you won't be disappointed!
