Review of Marques De Grinon Extra Virgin Olive Oil From Spain , 16.9-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2)

Just like many of the best Italian olive oils come from top wine producers, Marques De Grinon EVOO comes from one of Spain's greatest wineries, Marques De Grinon, known for it's exceptional Cabernets and Syrahs from its estate in Castilla-La Mancha. This olive oil is quite complex and rich, more buttery and less bitter than typical Tuscan oils, but every bit as fresh and flavorful. I would put it as a worthy alternative to the Tuscan oils, particularly for dipping in bread, where it's softness makes it especially delectable. It's too expensive to be used for everyday cooking, but it can be drizzled on steaks and chops at the end to add aromatic and flavor nuance to grilled meats and vegetables. Really, this is a world class oil.

Review of Sottocenere al Tartufo 1lb Cows Milk

The only reason this doesn't have 5 stars, is it arrived in an almost liquid state. Thankfully it had been packaged very tightly and kept it's shape. I don't know what more you could do, they packaged it in an insulated bag with two ice packs. The August Florida heat is just too much for mailing soft cheeses I guess. I wasn't a big problem, as I was going to cook with it anyway. It has a great truffle odor, every time I get a sniff of it, I smile!

Review of Pear Champagne Vinegar 8.45 oz

This stuff is yummy! I have a lot of food sensitivities, including berries, so the raspberry vinegrettes used in many salads are out. I think this one is even better anyway since the pears add a consistent sweet sweet note to the vinegar tang. I blend it with my favorite olive oil (Spectrum Organic Spanish Extra Virgin)to make delicious (and healthy, lower calorie) dressing for green salads, coleslaw, potato salad, brown rice with salmon and capers, etc. In many cases I don't add anything else besides salt and pepper. I've gotten rave reviews from guests of all ages. The only thing I could wish for is that it would be organic as well.

I've used dried mushrooms many times over the years and these are among the best.Though expensive the morel has great flavor and is easily reconstituted.Already I've used them in a mushroom risotto and my favorite Fettuccine Alfredo.The 4-ounce package has a volume of about five cups of the dried morels so it easily beats what I find in the local supermarket.

Superior vanilla beans come from the Madagascar "Bourbon Islands," Mexico and Indonesia. I find the flavor was truly superior to normal vanilla extract. While you don't want to use vanilla beans in everything (too expensive!), you will definitely want to consider using them in custards and when you make ice cream.

Vanilla enhances everything from creamy porridges to custards and cakes. The list goes on and on. There are so many uses for vanilla. Vanilla is derived from the seductively aromatic vanilla bean. Vanilla beans are actually the cigar-shaped seed pod from a fragrant climbing orchid native to tropical America.

Yes, vanilla extract is much more economical, but using vanilla beans is rather gourmet. The extract is created from chopped vanilla beans that are soaked in an alcohol/water solution. It takes about 100 beans to make 1 gallon of extract.

You can use the vanilla beans, rinse and dry them, so they last longer. After drying, you can store them again in the glass tube or in their own plastic bag for reuse.

Whole vanilla beans are excellent for dishes where the characteristic flecks of the natural bean will enhance the presentation of a dish. The vanilla bean adds a gourmet touch to desserts such as crème brulee, ice creams and cakes. If you like natural spicy flavors, this ginger is especially delicious with a medium spicy flavor and a sweet crystallized taste.

The ginger seems to be of an especially high quality and is delicious either in tea or as a candy. Good for eating after dinner or anytime you want something sweet and spicy.
