Review of Gourmet Popping Corn - Case of 15 oz. bottles

I bought Fireworks Wisconsin white birch popcorn 64oz seeking the perfect popcorn for my Whirleypop popper, but I wrecked the batches simply by cooking them too hot. Now I've discovered on my own how to do it RIGHT.

If you want perfect popcorn, here's my secret:
- Add 2-3 ounces of oil in popper + 3 kernels;
- On electric stove (yeah, I know) set burner between 8 and 9 on scale of 1 to 10. (If you set it for 10, you'll have small, lousy, and even unpopped results. Who knew!)
- When the 3 kernels pop, add 1/3 cup of kernels (any more than this and they'll spill over)
- Meanwhile, melt 1/4 to 1/3 of ONE cube of butter in microwave for 35 seconds.
- When popped, (turn the whirley handle to prevent popped corn from overheating / or shake your pot (the one on the stove) if you lack this popper) and pour into your favorite bowl, (don't put butter into your popcorn cooker) drizzling butter and sprinkling a smidgen of salt.

The very best you've ever had . . . true? Let people know!

Prior to finding Melissa's Corn Husks, I was limited to making tamales in the summertime when our sweet corn crop was harvested.These dried husks cut down dramatically on prep time and labor!The husks were larger than I expected, making the assembly of the tamales go quickly.Soaking and cleaning them was easily accomplished as the directions indicated.I also liked the authentic recipies included on the inner packaging.Previously, I had surfed the net and tried several recipies for tamales before finding one that most reminded me of the homemade treats my friend's grandma used to make, and one of the recipes Melissa's suggested was almost a dead match for my favorite.Plan on 2-3 hours to prep and cook a big batch, but the good news is that tamales freeze well and can be ready for a future dinner or side dish with a quick reheat in some foil.

This is a good almond tea.I'd describe the flavor as a dry almond.It's a light flavor (though definitely present), and I'd describe its presence as subtle.This is not a very nutty flavor- choose Adagio's Chestnut if you're looking for that.Rather, this is a subtle almond tea.The flavor is not especially sweet, so it's good for both morning and evening consumption.I'd probably have preferred a little more nuttiness, but I enjoyed this tea all the same.

We actually found one of these at a bargain store today for $8 and it was worth the money - the batteries are already dying (likely because of kids playing with it in the store) but the sound and lights are true to advertisement - the Death Star lights up and plays the Star Wars theme when opened. It's a big dispenser and pops out the entire pack of pez, not single candies. Great for a Star Wars fan who has everything else, or a Pez Dispenser collector. :)

Review of Swiss Maid Peanut Brittle

I love the brittle I get from Swiss Maid. It is delicious, crunchy and made with what are obviously high quality ingredients. The cashew crunch is ABSOLUTELY wonderful. I wish they did the same thing with almonds and/or peanuts or really any of the other nuts. I'm down in Texas so the time to receive my order seemed to be absurdly long. Though, I will admit, it is well worth the wait. I also would like to see Swiss Maid use a different type of packaging for their product. The "brittle" bags are so "brittle" they tend to "crack" open in the box. Even if they do not "crack" in the shipping process, they are not durable enough to store the product. This is peripheral detail that really needs a little work, but it is not going to prevent me form ordering more.

I first had Amarena Fabbri cherries in Germany in 1992.I was working on my German degree and staying with a host family.In those days, the cherries were only available once a year which meant they had to last. My host mom carefully counted out the cherries on top of ice cream, Kalte Schale, and other cream-based desserts - but only 3-4 cherries per person!She hid the crock in the house so her kids (and I!) wouldn't sneak them. I loved the cherries so much that my host family gave me the beautiful crock as a keepsake, and I still have it today in my china closet.The cherries & syrup are very rich, but not too sweet.Nothing at all like the supersweet-but-sour cherry pie filling we have in America, and not like our dark cherries, either.The syrup is delectable as a topping all by itself, if you want to stretch out your investment.

The best EVOO under $40. We live in the Bay Area where there are tons of artisan producers of EVOO and this stuff is by far the best in its price range. There are better ones for 50+ for this size but this oil has a smooth taste, silky in texture and a wonderfully fruity and fresh bouquet and taste. Your mouth will definitely love this! Review of White Peach Puree

I ordered this puree on the recommendation of a website I've since lost. The author described the puree as the perfect complement to champagne when making a Bellini.

I said what the heck and went to place an order, but then saw it might not arrive in time. I called up the customer service department and spoke with Anita, who said she'd be happy to ship the order out a day earlier after I placed it (which I did!). Sure enough, the order came wrapped carefully and packed with dry ice (don't touch with your bare fingers!) and still frozen.

I threw a party with a case of champagne and three containers of this puree, and I can vouch that it was an excellent party! All my guests absolutely loved the puree and gravitated towards it over the other drinks I provided. I can't vouch for the puree when cooking, but as the label says, Perfect in Bellini Cocktails!

Review of Trident Sugarless Chewing Gum Val-U-Pak, Bubble Gum - 12 X 18 Stick Pack

I really, really liked this bubblegum. It is flavorful, lasts for a really long time and the pieces are just the right size. It's really nice to find a good, old fashioned kind of bubblegum that is also sugar-free and this is it for me. My new favorite brand. I give the gum itself five stars.

However, my real purpose in writing this review was to mention that this gum has a *very* strong scent. The scent is sickly sweet and really makes the head whirl after a while. Potential buyers who are super sensitive to that kind of stuff might want to avoid this brand or find a place to store it so the scent does not waft all through their home.

Highly recommend though! A very tasty product!

Review of Societe Roquefort Cheese

Roquefort is definitely an acquired taste, not the typical blue cheese; much different than Danish or Maytag blue's. And still more flavorful than Gorgonzola.

Societe Roquefort is a creamy, white cheese with blue-green veins; it is firm, yet crumbly. It is creamy but bold; both tangy and spicy. A wonderful cheese that goes well with wine and fruit. Among Roqueforts, Societe brand is typically regarded as the best of the best.

This cheese is a staple in my family. My son has loved this cheese from the moment he tried it as an infant. He eats if off a fork- no time for bread! (He despises American Cheese.)

( *** The previous reviewer was unfair in his review as he reviewed a *bad* wedge. He admits that it was covered in 'some sort of rot.' It must not have been kept refrigerated and/or packed for shipping properly by the seller. Instead of giving this wonderful cheese one star, he should rightfully have returned it for a refund or replacement!)

These Skor bars where shipped quickly.They were packed well and are fresh. I bought from HBAZ because they offered free shipping for larger orders, so I ordered enough to get the free shipping and the checkout automatically discounted the shipping costs, which was convenient.

Please note the rather high cost of shipping these when you order from other vendors.Even if you are going to order only one box, I believe HBAZ has the best total cost.

I will definitely order these again!

Ah, it's a definite American story - in 1969 friends Mo Siegel and Wyck Hay of Colorado began selling the herbal teas that they had previously only made for themselves. From such small beginnings came that famous tea company - Celestial Seasonings.

Among Celestial Seasonings' many products is a new and exciting tea - Perfectly Pear White tea. White tea is relatively new to the West, but is an old secret of China. White tea is tea made from new growth buds and young leaves which have been steamed and then dried. Celestial Seasonings took this delicate flavored tea, and made it a wonderful drink by adding pear and vanilla.

Now, one word of warning: you must be careful with this tea, as I have found that it tastes excellent with a short steep time, but quickly turns bitter and unpalatable if over-steeped. But, that said, this is a great tea, one that tastes excellent hot, and very good iced. (Some prefer it iced, I prefer it hot.) So, if you want delicious new tea, one with an interesting exotic taste, then get Celestial Seasonings Perfectly Pear White Tea. I highly recommend it!

From our experience the Extra virgin, while very good, is slightly lacking in the flavor and fruitiness of the Sicilian also by Frantoia and available at a slightly lesser price from Amazon.Maybe it is just us - what do others think?
