The chocolate flavor shines in this bittersweet chocolate. The "callets" are the right size for melting easily (I used them for truffles). This is good chocolate, worth the price.

Product Description
This bittersweet chocolate (couverture) is excellent for eating, enrobing cakes with a thick layer of chocolate, preparing dense chocolate fillings and ganache, and for piping chocolate decorations. These callets are round drops of pure chocolate, easy to melt or temper, weigh, and store, and a divine taste in recipes calling for chunks of chocolate. The callets are made using 100% pure cocoa butter and a dash of vanilla that rounds off the taste with a slight sweet hint. Pure chocolate requires tempering to obtain a high gloss for chocolate making.
72.4% cocoa solids.

Pork Chocs...who'd have thought it?! Despite the joke reviews and the fact that one other reviewer included them on her top 25 weirdest items these are no laughing matter. Yes I bought some out of curiousity and yes I ate them, as did my husband, and I have to say they make a tasty snack. Don't be put off by the jokes and comments about how nasty they look. If you are low carbing it and like pork rinds (i know a lot of people can't stand them) then you will love this snack. And the chocolate tastes wonderful.

Review of Teavana Perfect Tea Maker (32oz.)

This tea steeper is perfect. Cleaning is a cinch, so far no staining; and believe me, I use this 3-4 times a day! I have definitely noticed a deeper flavor in my teas using this; in fact so, that I've had to cut back on the sugar because the teas don't taste so plain or dull.
Teavana, if you're listening, PLEASE MAKE A BIGGER SIZE ONE!!!!!!!!! PLEASE! This is such an excellent product, but unfortunately it does not make a full 32 oz, more like 30 oz. This is because the loose tea takes up room, diminishing the water. Bigger tea leaves result in even less tea, like 28 oz. A 35 oz or 36 oz tea steeper would solve this problem.
That minor annoyance, the best product on the market for tea steeping by far!

Review of Huichol Hot Sauce, 6.5 oz.

Spicy, but not ridiculously so, with a great flavor that goes particularly well with Quesadillas. It is notoriously hard to get in the United States, so if you can't pick it up in your grocery store and are looking for a unique flavor to spice up simple Mexican food, I would highly recommend this.

On almost every trip we make to Mexico, we come back with at least one bottle of Salsa Huichol.

Review of All Purpose Ground Coffee by Sant' Eustachio

I've been to Rome a handful of times in the past 3 years and each time I go, I stock up on the coffee from Sant' Eustachio. In Rome, it's known as the best coffee in the whole city. I can't agree more. When I ran out a few months ago, I tried to drink other coffee - good coffee - but it wasn't good enough. Nothing could compare to Sant' Eustachio. I did an internet search and found it on Gustiamo.com - the price on Amazon was a tiny bit cheaper, so I ordered it from Gustiamo thru Amazon.com. As I sit here writing my review, I am sipping my coffee from Sant' Eustachio and I couldn't be happier.

The coffee is a dark brew, low in caffeine but high in taste.

Review of Iliada Kalamata Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil , 17-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 3)

I first purchased this product to replenish my "Kalamata Gold" Greek olive oil supply, which suddenly became unavailable. I use this particular olive oil exclusively for stove-top cooking. I haven't used it in salad dressings, or any other cold dishes; though it is probably an excellent choice for salad dressing.

I have at least four different kinds of olive oil in my pantry at any given time. Some are floral, some are fruity, some (now discarded) are overpoweringly oily. Iliada Kalamata Greek EVOO is neither floral nor fruity and certainly not oily on the palette, so it is an excellent choice when one doesn't want the oil to impart much flavor of its own. Again, I use this oil for cooking, but it is likely an excellent choice for dressings.

I won't say this is the best coffee in the world; because I have yet to try them all and everyone's tastes differ.However, from my 20+ years of coffee drinking and of all the Kona coffee's I've tasted, THIS one reigns supreme.And it better for that price!But if you appreciate a well rounded, flavorful coffee, then this is the one to try.

I lived in Hawaii for 3 years and was introduced to Kona coffee at the source.Of all the coffees I've had in my life, Kona is my favorite.It is the richest and smoothest you could imagine.Others are good, but not in this class.Also, watch out for Kona coffee blends.They can be tasty, but are usually only 10% Kona beans and not the top crops at that.This is the primo stuff here!There really is something in that Volcanic soil on the Big Island.

A word of caution though.Drink this at your own risk.It is very hard to go back to "normal" coffee after tasting this nectar of the gods.Enjoy!

Review of Urbani Black Winter Truffle Oil

I recently bought an Urbani 3-pack of oils to sample.It had this Black Truffle Oil, White Truffle Oil and Porcini Mushroom Oil.The Porcini didn't do much for me.It was too subtle.I did not like the White Truffle Oil at all.But the Black Winter Truffle Oil is awesome.It has a very strong earthy smell.I used it in a Gruyere cheese sauce over macaroni.It was too die for.

I love Italian food and wine.Initially I purchased the Trapani Sea Salt on a whim.After I completely embraced the pairing of regional Italian wines with the corresponding dishes moving to Italian sea salt seemed only natural.

We have many different flavors of salt in our home. I routinely cook with the following:
1.Sicilian Trapani Sea Salt
2.Hawaiian Red Salt
3.French Grey Salt
4.Celtic Salt

Review of Strianese Whole Peeled D.O.P. San Marzano Tomatoes 14 Oz. Can

I have purchased a variety of DOP tomatoes in the past. Typically I been disappointed. I usually find that California products taste markedly better. The DOP tomatoes I have tried previously turned out to be mealy, and tinny tasting.

These tomatoes on the other hand, had a bright taste and a balance of sweetness and acidity that made a very good marinara. I have not used up this shipment so I don't know if every can is as good as this lot, but if so, these Strianese tomatoes, some garlic, a couple table spoons of olive oil, a pinch of crushed red pepper, salt and pepper are all that is necessary for happiness.

Review of Ghirardelli Chocolate Hot Chocolate Mix - Double Chocolate, 16 oz

I'm not a member of the food police. However; I get really mad when a company short changes their customers hoping they will not notice. ESPECIALLY a supposed higher end "GOURMET" producer like Ghirardelli!

The quick and dirty for those who don't want to read my detailed review.
**Is it better than "Swiss Miss," YES.
**Did it used to be better before they over-sweetened, cut the # of servings from 20 to 12 and generally ruined a decent product? YES!
**Is it over-priced and resting on the Ghirardelli name? OH YES.
**Is it a way to impress people who don't know any better albiet for a price? Probably.
**Do I still recommend Ghirardelli Hot Chocolates. NOPE Not Any More. (want to know why? read on)

For years I have enjoyed the Ghirardelli line of hot chocolates. That is about to change!
NOTE: Until this year they have born the subtitle "Old Fashioned." That designation has been dropped for reasons which will soon become apparent. They have also quite conspicuously dropped the Product Satisfaction Guarantee along with the Ghirardelli address for applying for reimbursement if you the consumer were dissatisfied. Does this bode well for us? You be the judge and by all means let Ghirardelli know. I cannot include the address due to Amazon review policies. You may however contact them by email at their website.
Something I strongly encourage. As a hot chocolate lover I want the original recipie back. I hope after reading my review you will too.

What is Ghirardelli doing? Quite simply boosting the sugar levels to astronomical levels and engaging in what I call "shorting."
Before a serving of any Ghirardelli hot chocolate mix consisted of (3) Tbsp., (22g) yielding twenty, (20) servings per 16oz. can.
NOW one serving is (4) Tbsp., (39 grams) yielding only TWELVE (12) servings for the same 16oz. can. This gives us 40 percent LESS servings per can. And at an average of $5.50 per can less s&h an increase from 27.5 cents/serving to 45.8 cents/serving. -- Some may say this is gourmet hot chocolate why quarrel over a few cents. Fair question, but lets be sure were talking about chocolate and not cheap fillers.

I have a few cans still left from the "Old Fashioned" style which is what Ghirardelli has marketed for years. It IS different and I can taste the difference. However, I will post both Nutrition labels side by side for you to compare and add my analysis at the end. Hopefully the facts will be as clear to you as they are me.
NOTE: the nutrition label is a requirement of the USDA. Further they are reprinted everywhere so I am assuming that this is PUBLIC DOMAIN information.(That doesn't mean that Ghirardelli will like me telling you about it.)

I will be comparing Ghirardelli OLD FASHIONED HOT CHOCOLATE "DOUBLE CHOCOLATE" to the new replacement Ghirardelli PREMIUM HOT COCOA "DOUBLE CHOCOLATE."Note it is now called Hot Cocoa & not Hot Chocolate.

I have Chocolate Mocha and Chocolate Hazelnut to compare as well and that the differences are negligible. It is usually only 0.5g of fat but mostly 1 - 2g of sugar is the usual difference. And of course both use natural & artificial flavors.

BOTTOM LINE: I am no food scientist and I know sometimes the numbers don't always add up exactly but it is painfully obvious that most of the extra 60 calories went into sugar.
However, others have complained about the Ghirardelli mixes being too sweet. To my taste the NEW formula is much too sweet!
The Nutrition label bears out my biggest gripes with this REFORMULATED product:
(1) It was sweet before. Now by UPPING the SUGAR so dramatically and adding salt as a sugar booster I no longer like it.
(2) Not enough fat and other ingredients were added to convince me that any REAL gains in CHOCOLATE were made.
## The TASTE of the new formula bears this out. (I have taken to cutting the serving size and adding Cocoa powder to get more Chocolate and less sugar.
(3) I DESPISE the shorting (Pumping it full of sugar and Cutting the servings by almost HALF.)
(4) And the price stays the same for less. That really frosts my goblet

I can no longer recommend this product.
Ghirardelli You had a decent thing going and you blew it.
PERSONALLY, I'm forwarding this review to the company and since Hot chocolate is just that. I'm going to experiment making either a home-made ganache syrup (melted chocolate & cream) or trying to find a way to finely grate or powder high quality chocolate to make my own brand. That's Really All The Old Style Was. Hot "Chocolate" not Cocoa.I'm sure for people with way too much money there are Hot chocolates available through boutiques where price is no object or... it IS the object. I'm not that rich. Besides if I come up with a home version that curls your toes then I may go into business myself or just enjoy it with a few friends.

Review of 12 oz. Pumpkin Spice Fettuccini Pasta

I purchased this pasta sight (and taste) unseen and was very pleased with it! The pasta cooked well, and included an excellent recipes for cooking which had spinach and Italian sausage. There are more great recipes also available on their website. The flavor of this pasta was divine and had a slight taste of nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice. Its not sweet, andcooked well with the cream sauce and wilted spinach. In fact, I liked it so much I purchased 6 more packs.

It comes in a large 10 lb size as well which Amazon.com sells.

I have never had chorizo before, but had a recipe (Cocido) that needed some.When the product arrived there was an error with the order, customer service was excellent and the problem fixed quickly

I tasted the sausage when i got it and was really impressed, however the true flavor came out in the stew.It was very good.Spanish Chorizo is based on paprika and mexican is based on cumin??? (I think).

Classic French mints made from mineral water of the spa town Vichy.I think there was a queen of either France or England who once declared these as her favorite sweets.They come not individually wrapped, but all in one bag.They are white, chalky and standard size for hard candy.They are so addicting and so good.Has a more subtle mint taste.More sweet like candy than an American mint. More like a dessert than a breath-freshener.I love them.

Review of Court Sencha (Také Sencha) Whole-Leaf Loose Tea

The Japanese tea tradition began in the 9th century AD (during the Heian Period, 794 - 1192, when the Japanese capital was Heian-kyo, the present-day Kyoto), when Buddhist monks returning from diplomatic missions to China brought back tea, to which their Chinese brethren had introduced them as a means of intensifying alertness during meditation. In those days, tea leaves were steamed, pounded into lumps (dancha) and dried. To make tea, the brown lumps were ground into small particles, then boiled in teapots. 300 years later, a monk named Eisai, the founder of the influential Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, introduced the processing method used in Chinese Zen temples, which involved the use of powdered green tea (maccha), whisked into hot water. Inspired by Eisai's teachings that tea was a means to ensure longevity, its consumption quickly became popular at court, as well as among the feudal lords (daimyo) and among the newly formed samurai warrior class. With the advent of tea merchants and tea houses between the 14th and 16th century, the custom of drinking tea spread further throughout Japan, even inspiring tea tasting competitions regarding the origin of the served tea in many towns and villages.

Sencha (rolled green tea) and its preparation was introduced into Japan by influential 17th century Chinese monk Yinyuan (Ingen in Japanese), the founder of the Obaku sect of Zen Buddhism. Sencha leaves are processed by steaming, rolling them into needle shapes and drying them in a procedure designed to maintain their green color. This kind of tea eventually became particularly popular among those Japanese writers and artists who admired any and all things Chinese (bunjin), inter alia calligrapher Ike no Taiga (1723-76), scholar and poet Ueda Akinari (1734-1809) and historian and poet Rai San'yo (1781-1832). By the first half of the 19th century (late Edo period, named for the new capital Edo, today's Tokyo), tea masters began to appear and sencha tea ceremony schools gained in importance.

Today, tea is a daily part of Japanese life, with production equally divided between the western island of Kyushu and Shizuoka Prefecture on the central island of Honshu, the home of Mount Fuji. The elaborate Japanese tea ceremony was perfected in the 16th and 17th century, first using powdered green tea (maccha) and later rolled green tea (sencha). Both ceremonies are still practiced today; however, Sencha accounts for about 80% of the tea consumed in modern-day Japan, where it is known as "nichijo-sahan-ji" ("everyday tea meal affair").

I've loved sardines since I was little and I prefer them with skin and bones intact. While I still enjoy the tiny cross-packed Norwegian sardines I was raised on there is something very special about Spanish and Portuguese Sardines...but that special something is not found in just any brand. I tried Vigo Sardines in Oil, 4.375-Ounce Cans (Pack of 10) for instance and they were a disappointment both in flavor and presentation.

That said, Palacio Real Sardines are a true representation of what's good in Spanish tinned seafood that's also easily affordable. After opening you see medium/lg sized sardines in good condition...no flayed skin or broken bits in the golden olive oil. It's the taste and texture that stand out. These firm, plump sardines are among the most delicately flavored and scrumptious sardines I've ever tasted.They are are even delicious all on their own, making for ahappy palate experience. Highly recommended.
